I’m retired. Will I be able to get travel insurance?
Generally yes, depending on your age and the insurer you go for.
You’ll likely pay more for travel insurance as an older traveller than someone under the age of 65.
You’ll need to check the age limit on the policy. On some insurance policies, the age limit is 75, on some it’s 79, but it could be up to 85 or 86.
Some standard travel insurance policies only cover people up the age of 65.
Terms and conditions can be more onerous for older travellers – ie stricter limits on journey durations, more limits around destinations that you can get insurance to travel to, lower medical cover etc
You may need to buy extra cover to be covered for any pre-existing medical condition you have.
